It's been told to me recently that the more we study about God....the more we realize we don't know and the more questions we have. This is so true......as much as I wish it wasn't.
Just some thoughts and questions I had.
- not all churches recognize the sign gifts as a spiritual gift.....why?
- some believe in infant baptism.....some in dedication of a baby.
- some believe the rapture will happen after the tribulation.
- some feel all Christians need to speak in tongues to be a true Christian
- some feel God will send the wrath down if we don't obey
- some believe there is an "age of accountability" where you aren't held accountable for your sin until a certain age
- some believe Satan isn't real
- some believe God chooses who He will save.....some believe we can choose for ourselves
- some believe we all go to heaven....except for "bad" people. (If I don't steal or murder....I'm good)
- some believe they are better than God and don't need him
- some believe we have to work for our salvation
- some believe once we are saved we can lose our salvation
- some believe we can give our salvation back to God if we don't want it anymore.
- some people don't think forgiveness is necessary
- some churches have more traditions than others
- some people think it's ok to criticize leaders
- some people want Jesus without giving anything up and feel it's not necessary to do so
- some people think it's ok to keep secrets
- some people want things their own way in a church without any regard to God
- some people don't think church membership is necessary
- some people believe Christ isn't coming back anytime soon
.......I could go on and on......
These are some things I've been listening to from people I come in contact with and wondering about. I thank God for the people he puts in my life even if for a short time. I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to go to His Word and find the answers for myself......and if I can't I ask to my favorite people.....and you all know who you are. :)
These are all great questions... I wish i knew the answer to all of them myself.
ReplyDeleteI think all of your questions, and mine alike are part of God's mystery and maybe part of his plan for us to talk his word. Think about it; if we all knew the answers we would not have to ask any question and would not really grow. We grow our faith by asking questions and getting others to think and talk about his word. It may be his way of getting to us to walk closer with him.
Also think about all the people that actually saw Jesus perform miracles, yet they still did not believe him or in him. So, for us to ask questions and be curious about God is a way of glorifying him. ( At least it is to me ).
But, you are on the right track in going to bible for the answers. I'm sure if you keep reading it, God will write the answers in heart, and as you say "it all comes down to the heart". Even if those answers aren't what someone else thinks.
Thank you! I feel I ask too many questions.....I feel I am alone in that I want to know so much and ask so much.....so thank you for your encouragement. And I like how you quote me about everything in this life being a heart issue. When I hear some of these things.....most of them are non essential.....meaning we don't have to debate them for salvation. But I still wonder a lot.
ReplyDeleteI wonder and I think about how others think and at times wonder who is right. But, in trying to research and see the answer to my question of which is more important knowing the word or living the word. I found my answer in the bible. I'm sure there are others that disagree with me and it will still be debated, but for me I know the answer that God wrote on my heart. I know how he wants me to act and what he tells me is more important; for me at least. I will fail at times, but at least I know what the answer is for me and it came through the bible loud and clear.
ReplyDeleteGod and Jesus are the ultimate in getting the answers to your questions, So pray on them. But, the bible is their words and your answers are in there, even if they aren't the same as someone else's.
I know there are Christians out there who Always have to be right......but I think it comes to listening and discernment to know if they are really right or just full of pride. You are right in that the Bible has our answers and what we need to know God has revealed to us in His word.
