Matthew 6....
First of all we are called to do righteous things for Christ....but we aren't to make a big production or brag about what we do it what we give the needy. We are to be discreet about it and let God see what we do for Him. This is a way of building treasures in heaven.
Prayer....to be done in secret.....alone with our God. You don't have to close your eyes but the focus is communion and talking to God....just you and He. Some try to be loud and bold and want everyone to hear them praying. Jesus says here that this is a wrong way to pray.
Verse 8....our father already knows what we need before we ask him. This is comforting. This makes me know that my life is figured out and I don't have to figure it out on my own.
Verses 9-13 is the Lords Prayer. Most have memorized this. This is a model of how we should pray each time we talk to God.
First we should pray and know our father is in heaven.....his name is hallowed (holy)
His kingdom come.....one day His kingdom will rule
His will be done.....willingly submitting to Gods plan and purposes for my life
On earth as in heaven
Give our daily bread......out NEEDS....not our wants
Forgive our debts ......sin
Forgive those who sin against us.....don't hold a grudge or be bitter with others
Lead us not to temptation.....help us not to give into the temptations we face each day
Verse 14-15....if we do not forgive others....God will not forgive us.
Verse 19-24.....store treasures in heaven. This earth and everything in it is temporary. Don't get too attached to it. Storing up things for eternity will be much more beneficial to us.
Big one here!, verse 25-34.....worry is sin! Jesus is talking here and tell us NoT to worry about ANYtHiNG.....if we do we are not trusting Him.
Definition of worry.....a small trickle of fear that cuts through our mind until all other things are not thought of it what we worry about. It consumes our mind and every being. Jesus is telling us here not to worry about anything. He has it all figured out.
I love the Lord's Prayer, I asked God once to help me to apply it in my life today. This is what I felt He put in my heart.

My Father, You are Holy, please come, do Your will, here in my life, daily take care of me, forgive me when I sin against You, help me to forgive others, help me to see sin, and help me to turn from it.
Oh wow....thank you. I'm adding that to my book! Very good way to apply the Lord's Prayer to our lives.
ReplyDeleteI never knew that "worrying" is a sin. I do that everyday!:( What about "anxiety"? I can see stressing & worrying going hand in hand which again I am guilty of. How do you goabout cooing with this.?. I know alot of people say medication and such forth but I am very strong headed against medication, I feel that Gods Word should be the obly medication I need.
ReplyDeleteThe Lords prayer is very beautiful, but. i must say it is very didferent then how I personally pray. I talk to him like I am talking to my best friend obviously. I always start with thanking him and then praying for others then my personal struggles in life. There ia two things I do always ask for ib prayer and thats guidance & for the holy spirit to work more in more within me each day.
Verses 14-15 I am a BiG fan of I do that alot I try to be kind to all and show everyone Gods Love. Me and my husvand struggle with this cause he doesnt very much why I am like that.

The Lord's Prayer is a guide for us.....we don't have to pray that each time we pray. It's just a way of us not to forget any areas of our life that need attention and prayer. I read not too long ago that we should start our prayer time confessing our sin and asking for forgiveness. We should pray for ourself first and get right with God before we ask for things for others. And you talking to Him as a friend is an excellent way to pray. He wants us to come to him that way. Praying big prayers with a lot of words isn't how he needs it to be. We should talk to him as we would our BFF. So you are good.
ReplyDeleteAnd when God tells us not to worry and we do it anyway....we sin against Him. If we worry about anything in this life we are telling him we don't trust Him enough to work it out. Yes anxiety and stress and worry all go together. Sometimes it can be a chemical imbalance in our brain, but sometimes it's lack of trust In our God. I really need you to read my testimony. I struggled for years with panic attacks and anxiety. So I understand.
And keep showing Gods love to people even if people don't understand or agree with you. You don't answer to them in the end, you answer to our God. We need to be like him. Always. Your job is the perfect place to show His love to people everyday! What a good place to be each day. What an opportunity most don't get. God knows right where we need to be to be th best for Him. Keep the faith. You are loved!

ReplyDeleteYes they can be.,,.but we need to keep focus on the task God has for us in that moment. He has hand crafted every situation and patient we will deal with in a days time. No need to worry. Look at it that way. Look at it as he knows what he's doing and what can we learn from those he puts in our path?
